Agency for Consumer Protection and Market Supervision to be reorganized in Moldova

Chisinau, 6 July /MOLDPRES/ - The Agency for Consumer Protection and Market Supervision will be reorganized and renamed into the State Inspectorate for Supervision of Non-Food Products and Consumer Protection. The cabinet of ministers approved a decision to this end today, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
The amendments were necessary, in order to optimize the institution’s work. So far, the Agency specialized in consumers’ protection have been carrying out controls preponderantly based on consumers’ petitions. Following the reorganization, all products on market will be assessed and verified through monitoring instruments and collection of samples. Thus, the Inspectorate will be oriented towards the carrying out of market supervision activities efficiently.
At the same time, the institution will have powers in the field of market supervision as regards the non-food products; conformity of services (including the tourist ones); consumers’ protection; metrology and pre-packed products; state control of the activities in the gambling sector; observing the conditions of licencing according to the competence field, etc.
The Inspectorate will have a limit staff of 63 employees; the current head of the Agency will temporarily exercise the office of director of the Inspectorate.
