Moldovan cabinet sets up coordination council for ensuring information security

Chisinau, 6 July /MOLDPRES/ - A coordination council for ensuring the information security will be set up in Moldova. The cabinet approved a decision to this effect at a meeting today, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
The initiative is part of the strategy of information security of Moldova for 2019-2024 and is aimed at ensuring a high level of information and cyber security.
The coordinating council will be a collective body, with consultative and operational powers, without legal personality. The entity will assess the level of danger to the information security nationally and will propose actions for settling the incidents signaled.
The council’s work will be focused on four segments:
- cyber, with role of identification and consideration of security incidents;
- operational, with role of identification of news in the information space, which might hit the country’s information security;
- media, with role of evaluation of the factors which might jeopardize the institutional integrity of the information media on the virtual platforms;
- civic-private, with some powers, among which the presentation of cases of infringement of human rights as to the free access to information resources, etc.
The members of the coordination council for ensuring the information security will be representatives of legal entities of public and private law, who will convene at ordinary and extraordinary meetings.
