Wall painting in support of Ukrainian refugees inaugurated in southern city of Moldova

Chisinau, 11 July /MOLDPRES/ - A wall painting titled, Sisters for Peace, has been inaugurated in the southern Cahul city this month. The painting was made with the support of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and Switzerland, within the Migration and Local Development Project.
The wall panting shows the picture of two women looking at a wheat field and was made by visual artist Radu Dumbrava, with an experience of more than ten years and an international portfolio of works.
Since the beginning of the war in Ukraine, Moldova’s residents, as well as the national and local authorities have undertaken more measures to back the refugees and manage the current challenges. In the Cahul district, over 1,400 refugees were hosted in 15 temporary shelters. Within the EU4Moldova: Focal Regions Programme, financed by the European Union and implemented by UNDP and the UN Children’s Fund (UNICEF), over 20,000 euros was allocated to local authorities, in order to immediately meet the emerging needs of refugees.
One more wall painting with the same subject of the inclusion will be made in the Straseni city, - another UNDP partner settlement.
