Chisinau, 21 July /MOLDPRES/ - A meeting of the body for revision of commercial policies at the General Council of the World Trade Organization (WTO) is held on 20-22 July. At the event, Moldova presented the country report in the field of commercial policies and practices.
„The process of revising the commercial policy is an important pillar of WTO, which contributes to the promotion of the principle of transparency in this structure. These complex analyses lead to a better understanding of the members’ commercial policies and practices, both for the states subjected to examination, to assess their present realities, and for the members partners of the reporting countries,’’ a state secretary at the Economics Ministry, Vadim Gumene, said.
In his speech, the official unveiled the developments and challenges faced by the country’s economic and commercial developments on the period 2015-2021, the commercial policy and the multilateral commercial system, as well as the country’s regional economic integration.
Also, Vadim Gumene gave assurances that Moldova would continue the effort of liberalizing the trade, integration and global economic development, backing the multilateral commercial system established within WTO.
The revision of the commercial policies and practices is periodically applied to all WTO members. Moldova makes this exercise once in seven years and the first evaluation took place in 2015.
