Small, medium enterprises of Moldova to benefit from grants for modernizing production equipment, energy efficiency actions

Chisinau, 22 July /MOLDPRES/ - The small and medium enterprises (SMEs) will benefit from support for the refurbishment of businesses and implementation of energy efficiency measures, based on a programme worked out by the Economics Ministry and approved by the cabinet today, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.   

This programme will help SMEs enhance their competitiveness and productivity, through replacing the old equipment by the new one. Thus, the use of innovating technological solutions will help enterprises become more competitive on the national and international market. The programme sees also the optimization of the enterprises’ production costs, through the implementation of energy efficiency measures, including for equipment for producing the renewable energy.

The financial support for the achievement of the goals set will be provided by the Economics Ministry, through the Entrepreneurial Development Organization (ODA), in form of non-refundable financing (grant) and will account for 50 per cent of the investment project’s value. At the same time, it will not exceed 2 million lei per one beneficiary for actions of refurbishment, among which: automation of the production process; production’s endowment with robots; modernization of the present technological lines; IT solutions to manage the production lines; re-equipment with advanced equipment.    

The grant for energy efficiency will account for 50 per cent of the eligible investment’s cost, but not more than 1.5 million lei for equipment, installations for producing renewable energy, which will ensure the consumption of electric energy with at least 15 per cent of the current consumption. Among these installations, there are: solar panels with heating system; photovoltaic panels for generating electric energy; mini Aeolian installations for generating electricity; technological equipment for producing biogas; equipment and installations for thermal heating.  

ODA will also provide information support to small and medium enterprises, business support institutions and organizations.
