Moldsilva to launch several works in autumn to consolidate forest fund

Chisinau, Aug. 5 /MOLDPRES/- Moldovan foresters met yesterday to identify the priority measures to be carried out in the autumn months, in the context of the Government's program to provide disadvantaged citizens with firewood.

According to the director of the Moldsilva Agency, Valeriu Caisîn, there are two important actions that require increased attention during this period. "It is about the activity of the teams involved in the identification of land for afforestation/reforestation and the consolidation of forestry nurseries in order to provide the necessary planting material and forest seeds. The National Afforestation Program is an absolute priority for foresters", said Caisîn.

Also, the foresters present mentioned that the fulfillment of the government plan requires an "exemplary cooperation with various state institutions and local public authorities, for the development of the country's forestry fund".

The government announced yesterday that for 2022-2023 cold season, household consumers will buy firewood at a price similar to last year. In order for the price of wood not to increase, the Government subsidized the Moldsilva Agency with over 64 million lei. People will be able to purchase wood directly from the forestry enterprise.
