Moldovan deputy premier presents activity report of ministry

Chisinau, 9 Aug. /MOLDPRES/- Performances of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development (MIDR) were presented yesterday during the assessment session after one year of Government.

"Despite the crises, in one year a series of impressive achievements were achieved in the field of energy, transport and local development", said Deputy Prime Minister Andrei Spînu, Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development.

According to the official, in accordance with the Government's Action Plan for 2021-2022, the Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development aims to implement 146 actions in all areas of activity: transport and infrastructure - 59, construction - 28, regional development - 26, energy - 25, electronic communications - 11. Thus, in the presented activity report, the following progress recorded in MIDR's fields of competence were mentioned: the loan agreement with the EBRD in the amount of 300 million euros was signed, which allows us to have reserves of natural gas and makes available the necessary capacities for the procurement of gas in emergency situations; amendments to the Gas Law were approved, which stipulate the obligation to create strategic stocks of natural gas, etc.; 24 million m3 of gas are available, stored in Romania, etc.

Also, the construction of the single-circuit high-voltage Overhead Power Line (LEA) (400 kV) on the Vulcăneşti - Chisinau direction has started; the synchronous connection of the electricity network from Moldova to the network of Continental Europe - ENTSO-E was achieved; the sources of purchasing electricity with decarbonized energy have been diversified (since May, 30% of electricity is purchased from Ukraine) etc.

Andrei Spînu also mentioned the perspectives of the institution that foresee programs for the development of cities and villages; for national roads; for road, rail and air transport; in communications; in construction and urban planning.

"In the next period, MIDR will prioritize its efforts to implement the following actions: the establishment of the Fund for Energy Efficiency in the residential sector; the development of the mobility strategy, which will establish the medium and long-term development prospects of the field, for a more efficient and sustainable transport; the reorganization of Moldova Railway state-owned enterprise in joint-stock company; attracting additional external financing for the implementation of rehabilitation, modernization and expansion projects of public roads; initiating the development of the Construction Sector Development Strategy until 2030; creation of the National Construction Agency; ensuring the implementation of projects from the Single Program Document for 2022-2024", summed up Deputy Prime Minister Andrei Spînu.
