Chisinau, 9 Aug. /MOLDPRES/- Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilița met today with participants of the 10th edition of the Diaspora Origin Returns/DOR Program, the government's communication and protocol department has reported.
The children residing in France, Jordan, Italy and Greece said they return to the Republic of Moldova every summer and participate in the DOR camp to be closer to the culture and traditions of their home country. In this context, the prime minister appreciated the contribution brought to promoting the image of our country abroad, emphasizing the importance of maintaining, despite the distance, a close connection with the Republic of Moldova. "We have the freedom to leave the country and return home, but the most important thing is to maintain the relationship with the Republic of Moldova. Thank you for preserving the traditions, learning the Romanian language, even if you were born in another country, and representing our country abroad. You are true ambassadors of the Republic of Moldova abroad", said Natalia Gavrilița.
The official spoke about her experience in the diaspora, and, being asked about her childhood dream, she mentioned that she always wanted to be involved in the development process of the Republic of Moldova. "I always dreamed of being able to contribute to the changes in our country, to be able to represent the Republic of Moldova with dignity and to make decisions that will improve people's lives. I want all our children, wherever they are, to feel boundless pride when they say they are from the Republic of Moldova, to know that they come from a country of hardworking and dignified people, and to be proud of their country so much that to come back to live in it", the head of the Cabinet of Ministers said.
The Prime Minister also talked with the parents of the participants in the DOR Program, who appreciated the effort of the Executive in the process of transforming the country. "We thank you for the fact that you manage to make our people live better, and for us to come home with love," noted the citizens of the diaspora.
DOR is the only government program that aims to sensitize children and young people regarding the preservation of cultural and national identity and, respectively, to create emotional ties with the country of origin - the Republic of Moldova.
