Average gross monthly earnings grew by 13.1% last year

Chisinau, August 24 /MOLDPRES/- The average monthly salary (gross nominal) in 2021 was 8,979.8 lei, up by 13.1% compared to the previous year.

According to the National Bureau of Statistics, the average monthly salary (nominal net) was 7634.8 lei, up by 15.4% than in 2020. The number of employees late last year was 739.6 thousand people, up by 0.1% than December 31, 2020.

The highest values of the average gross monthly salary were registered in the activities: information and communications - 22137.7 lei and financial and insurance activities - 15746.9 lei.

At the same time, the lowest values of the average monthly salary were recorded in accommodation and catering activities - 5249.9 lei and agriculture, forestry and fishing activities - 5691.1 lei.

Compared to 2020, in all economic activities there were increases in the average salary between 3.0% and 28.2%. The most significant increases were achieved in health and social assistance - by 28.2%, information and communications - by 24.4 and financial and insurance activities - by 15.6%.
