Parents of children up to two years old to benefit from higher monthly benefits

Chisinau, 1 Sep. /MOLDPRES/- The Cabinet of Ministers approved today the amendment to the Law on social benefits for children to support and ensure the well-being of children and families with children, the government's communication and protocol department has reported.

Under the legislative adjustments proposed by the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection, all children up to the age of 2 will benefit from a monthly allowance of 1,000 lei, regardless of whether their parents have insured or uninsured status.

Thus, socially insured persons will obtain a monthly allowance of 1,000 lei, until their children reach the age of 2, in addition to the childcare allowance they currently receive. In the case of uninsured persons, the monthly allowance granted until the child is 2 years old will increase by 260 lei, from 740 to 1,000 lei.

For the implementation of the project, financial means of about 76 million lei were provided in the state budget. According to the estimates of the National Social Insurance House, this year over 63,000 people will benefit from these social benefits.
