Moldovan-Romanian agreement on setting up Leova - Bumbăta crossing point approved

Chisinau, 1 Sep. /MOLDPRES/- The Cabinet approved at today's meeting Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Moldova and Romania on establishment of Leova - Bumbăta state border crossing point, concluded in Bucharest on 22 August. The new crossing point is to be opened to international road traffic on the Moldovan-Romanian segment, the government's communication and protocol department has reported.
Once set up, it will allow speeding up and facilitating the crossing of the border by people and means of transport, streamlining cross-border traffic and reducing the waiting time at the other state border crossing points, which are now more in demand.
Also, the new point at the border will contribute to the improvement of the processing capacities of the means of transport, which transit the Republic of Moldova, the development of the network of trade routes for cross-border traffic and the increase of the level of security both on a national and regional level.
In accordance with the provisions of the Agreement, the opening of the Leova-Bumbăta crossing point will be carried out after the creation of the appropriate infrastructure and the provision of the necessary personnel, in accordance with the norms and standards in force.
