Week of actions on NCDs launched in Chisinau

Chisinau, 5 Sep. /MOLDPRES/- The Republic of Moldova will participate in the Global Week for Action on NCDs. On 5-11 September community mobilization and social awareness actions on the burden of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) will be organized at national level.

The Republic of Moldova joins the campaign. The public health centers of the National Agency for Public Health, republican, district, municipal and community public health institutions will organize activities to raise awareness of the population regarding the importance of preventing behavioral risk factors and blood pressure and blood sugar screening activities.

At the same time, with the support of the Moldovan-Swiss project Healthy life: reducing the burden of non-communicable diseases, financed by the Swiss Cooperation Office, community mobilization actions will be organized in 16 communities in eight districts, which include the launch of self-care programs for chronic diseases, organization of leisure and physical activity spaces at community level of gastronomic festivals.

It is a campaign initiated to raise social awareness of the need to urgently prioritize funding for NCD prevention and control and to build resilient health systems that leave no one without the assistance they need. The campaign is organized globally for the fifth consecutive year by the NCD Alliance.
