Insurance market in Moldova recorded positive evolution

Chisinau, 8 Sep. /MOLDPRES/- The insurance market in Moldova recorded a positive evolution of gross insurances in the first semester of 2022, which registered 1.182 billion lei (about 50.1 million euros), an increase of 1.32 times compared to the same period last year, the National Financial Market Commission (CNPF) has reported.
"Growth rates were recorded in practically all types of insurance, including accidents (work accidents and occupational diseases) (+86.5%), health (+13.8%), CASCO (+14.2 %), fire and other natural calamities (+72.0%), other property insurance, including livestock (44.4%) and agricultural crops (48.1%), motor civil liability, including internal RCA ( +17.1%) and Green Card (+45.0%), civil liability insurance (about 3 times), life insurance (+3.43%), etc.," the CNPF said.
At the same time, insurances decreased: railway insurance (-21.3%), goods in transit insurance (-26.3%), general civil liability (-15.5%).
In the first half of 2022, companies paid compensations and insurance allowances worth over 391.3 million lei, up by 27.0% compared to the first semester of 2021. Claims paid under general insurance policies have totaled 369.6 million lei or 94.5% of the total compensations paid, and the indemnities paid on the basis of life insurance policies constituted about 21.6 million lei, increasing by 29.2%.
On 30 June 2022, ten insurance companies were operating on insurance market, 46 insurance-reinsurance brokers and 66 insurance agents.
