Chisinau, 15 September /MOLDPRES/ - New non-resident Ambassador of the State of Israel to Moldova Joel Lion on 14 September paid homage to the victims of the 1903 pogrom from Chisinau and to the fascism’s victims.
The official visited the memorial complex of the victims of the 1903 pogrom from Chisinau and the Memorial of Fascism Victims, where he lighted candles in the memory of people who suffered.
„The Moldovan people and the Jewish one have a vast and trilling history in common. When I was appointed accredited official representative of the State of Israel in Moldova, I felt that it was my duty to pay homage to those who suffered just for the fact that they were Jews. While I was lighting these candles in their memory, I promised that Israel would always take care for no Jew to suffer,’’ Joel Lion said.
The homage was paid following the event on the presentation of the letters of accreditation as ambassador to President Maia Sandu and the official meeting with Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu.
Joel Lion is Jerusalem-based Ambassador of the State of Israel to Moldova and Armenia. He acted as Ambassador of Israel to Ukraine.
