Moldova to mark World Cleanup Day

Chisinau, 16 Sep. /MOLDPRES/- On the eve of World Cleanup Day, celebrated on 17 September the #eusortez campaign was launched in the Republic of Moldova.
This year, the Republic of Moldova officially joined the World Cleanup Day. In this context, on September 17, an extensive sanitation action at the national level is planned.
"The collection of waste leads to the reduction of pollution, the reduction of volumes and their valorization. We are working on the creation of economic mechanisms through the extended responsibility of the producer", according to the head of the Policy Directorate for the management of waste and chemical substances of the Ministry of the Environment, Svetlana Bolocan.
The United Nations Development Program (UNDP) project Communities resilient to climate change by empowering women, with the financial assistance of Sweden, encourages and supports all 30 partner communities to participate in this action. Thus, sanitation activities will be organized in the localities of Nisporeni, Călărași, Basarabeasca, Leova, Găgăuzia, the Transnistrian region and the security zone, other communities in the country.
"World Cleanup Day is an opportunity to promote the participatory spirit by engaging the community in activities that are good for our environment and health. It is a reminder that protecting the environment should be a lifestyle and should be today and every day. Let's join our efforts on September 17, to make the place where we live cleaner and more beautiful for us and the generations to come!" urges the Ministry of the Environment.
