Moldovan president meets British Minister for Equalities and Intergovernmental Relations in London

Chisinau, 18 September /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu met Chancellor of Duchy of Lancaster, British Minister for Equalities and Intergovernmental Relations Nadhim Zahawi in London today.

According to the presidential press service, the officials discussed the regional security, as well as the challenges Moldova and the entire European continent should cope with because of the war started by Russia in Ukraine.

The head of state said that the Moldovan authorities’ goal was to maintain peace and stability in Moldova and to ensure the resilience of the economy and the citizens in the conditions of energy crisis, which is more and more pronounced as the winter is nearing. Also, the interlocutors considered possibilities of cooperation in the energy sector, for combating the misinformation and propaganda, reformation of justice and fighting corruption.

President Maia Sandu on 18 and 19 September is in London, where she will participate in the state funerals of Queen Elizabeth II, thus paying homage to Her Majesty on behalf of all Moldova’s citizens.
