Chisinau, 20 Sep. /MOLDPRES/- President of the Republic of Moldova Maia Sandu addressed on 19 September participants of the UN Transforming Education Summit held in New York, the presidential press service has reported.
The head of state spoke in a video message about the efforts to transform the education system, made by our country since 2014, and about how she would like to see this vital field for any state in the future.
Maia Sandu said that Moldova wants to build a high-performing, fair, safe, welcoming and healthy learning environment, restoring the role of the teacher in society. In this context, the head of state highlighted several priorities and challenges that can contribute to the transformation of education:
Importance of teacher training; restoring the moral, intellectual and behavioral authority of teachers, along with placing education on a solid ethical foundation. Three things are important here: better teacher training - with an emphasis on continuing education, better selection procedures and adequate rewards for work.
Further reducing corruption in the education system, the fight against corruption being on our national agenda.
Inclusion, as a condition for an ethical educational system. The country's 2022-2030 Inclusive Education Program will focus on a multidimensional intervention, by coordinating education, health and social services at all levels of education.
The president voiced confidence that an ethical system is the one that, through inclusion, strengthens the cohesion of our societies. "Part of our mission is to leave our children with a more united world, where diversity is the energy for peace, prosperity, innovation and understanding. A world where leaders talk about education, not about conflicts", Maia Sandu said.
