Moldovan, Japanese officials broach cooperation

Chisinau, 21 Sep. /MOLDPRES/- Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilița welcomed Ambassador of Japan to Chisinau Yoshihiro Katayama and deputy head of the Japan International Cooperation Agency office in Ukraine Kumiko Kasai to discuss the last details before her visit to Tokyo, where she will attend the state funeral of former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, the government's communication and protocol department has reported.

The officials reviewed other fundamental issues of bilateral relations, such as the evolution of the security situation in the region, the promotion and facilitation of access of Moldovan agri-food products to the Japanese market, as well as other aspects of Moldovan-Japanese cooperation, in the context overcoming the economic and energy crisis in the country. The organization of a Moldovan-Japanese business forum in the near future was also discussed.

Gavrilita thanked for Japan's constant support to Moldova, especially for the contribution offered by the Japanese authorities and people in managing the refugee crisis, and the humanitarian aid provided within the Berlin Support Platform.

Yoshihiro Katayama highlighted the importance of updating the Moldovan-Japanese strategic partnership, especially in the context of the evolution of the war in Ukraine, and noted that Japan is interested in identifying new possibilities to boost and deepen cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
