Moldovan president meets UN Secretary General

Chisinau, 21 Sep. /MOLDPRES/- On the sidelines of the 77th UN General Assembly, President Maia Sandu met with Secretary General of the United Nations António Guterres in New York. The officials spoke about the security situation in the region, the consequences of the war in Ukraine and the crises faced by our country.

According to the presidential press service, the president said that the war in Ukraine has a major economic and social impact on the country and our citizens. As a result, Moldova needs the support of the international community to deal with the energy and economic crises, which risk intensifying with the arrival of winter, and to support those most affected by the price increase.

Maia Sandu reiterated the country's firm commitment to contribute to the identification of common solutions for global challenges. She voiced confidence that today it is important to support the access of every child, in every country, to quality education and to take concrete actions against the threats generated by climate change, which are increasingly accentuated.

On Tuesday and Wednesday, Maia Sandu is in New York to attend the UN General Assembly, an annual event on issues of global interest.
