Chisinau, 21 September /MOLDPRES/ - Three border policemen are prosecuted for the facilitation of the illegal crossing of Moldova’s border by Ukraine’s citizens.
According to the Border Police, those three suspects are two men and one woman with ages between 30 and 38 years. They are employed at the Basarabeasca, Saiti and Tudora police stations. Following hearings, two suspects accepted to cooperate with the inquiry, while the third one was detained.
According to prosecutors, the requesters were paying taxes between 3,000 and 5,000 dollars for the illegally provided services. Some of this money, up to 1,000 dollars, was going to border policemen. Their role was to introduce the data of the people from Ukraine who illegally entered Moldova in the integrated information system of the Border Police, that they allegedly legally crossed the border. This fact ensured possibility for the requesters to illegally transit Moldova towards EU.
As for the crossing of the state border itself by the requesters, this task belonged to other members of the crime ring. The persons were helped to enter Moldova through the southern region, outside the border checkpoints, as well as through the Transnistrian region. Some of these members were identified, while the others were put on the wanted list.
