Moldovan-Romanian military cooperation discussed at Defence Ministry's headquarters

Chisinau, 21 September /MOLDPRES/ - Defence Minister of Moldova Anatolie Nosatii and the commander of the National Army, brigade general Eduard Ohladciuc have had meetings with the head of the General Staff of the Defence of Romania, general Daniel Petrescu, on an official visit to Chisinau, on the occasion of the holding of the Fire Shield 2022 exercise.
Defence Ministry’s sources informed that, during the dialogue, the officials had tackled subjects on the bilateral cooperation on the military segment and prospects for their boosting, the reform of the defence sector from Moldova, participation in peacekeeping operation with international mandate, as well as the regional security situation.
Defence Minister Anatolie Nosatii appreciated the constant support of the Romanian government for the reformation of the defence sector from Moldova, noting that Romania had always been a valuable strategic partner for Moldova.
For his part, general Petrescu reiterated the willingness to back, in continuation, the process of modernization of the National Army, in line with the western and democratic standards. In this respect, the Romanian official said that, along with the team from the National Defence Ministry, he would take efforts for ensuring the efficient carrying out of the projects and programme in the fields of training, logistic and medical, meant for the development of the defence institution of Moldova and will provide the support needed within the United Nations, EU and NATO organizations.
