Chisinau, 23 September /MOLDPRES/ - The government presently works out a programme on energy vulnerability and the mechanism of compensation of the increase in the natural gas tariff will be announced in early next October. Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilita made statements to this effect at a news conference given following a cabinet meeting held southern Cahul city.
The PM made these specifications, given the increase in the gas tariff by the National Energy Regulatory Agency (ANRE).
„We see that the prices are growing internationally; yet, we realize that there is a limit and namely how much the people can afford paying these tariffs. Therefore, the government comes up with a support programme. Last year, we compensated the tariff’s increase and we presently work on an energy vulnerability programme. Thus, we will consider possibility to financially back the people, so that they are able to pay the invoices,’ Natalia Gavrilita said.
The prime minister stressed that, starting from 1 October, a new calculation formula would be used, which will allow establishing a more advantageous purchasing price. ‘’Presently, there are high acquisition prices. Beginning with the next month, we will switch to a new formula, which will provide a more advantageous price. We keep an eye on the international markets and we urge the citizens to be concerned about the energy efficiency. We do our utmost to have alternatives for natural gas. Thus, the public institutions are to be connected to the centralized heating system. The Termoelectrica stock company will switch to work on crude oil. At the same time, we will provide compensations, so that the citizens can pay the invoices,’’ Natalia Gavrilita said.
According to ANRE’s decision, as of 1 October 2022, the gas price will grow from 22.99 lei to 29.26 lei for household consumers; thus, they will pay by 6.27 lei more than so far.
