Moldovan police starts campaign on informing, prevention of thefts from vehicles

Chisinau, 27 September /MOLDPRES/ - The capital’s police today started a campaign of informing and prevention of thefts from vehicles. The action is titled, An Informed Citizen – A Protected Citizen.
The deputy head of the police department of the Chisinau municipality, Tudor Bors, said that, since early 2022, over 180 thefts from cars had been recorded, by 42 ones more against the year before.
„We see that the number of this type of offence is on the rise. Therefore, we want to inform the residents about the prevention measures. The action is organized by the capital’s Police, in partnership with several oil companies from Moldova, so that the information will be placed at the entrance and exit of fuel supply stations, in order to be visible for drivers,’’ Tudor Bors said.
Within the campaign, law-enforcers will inform drivers about the observance of the security measures, in order to avoid the theft cases. ‘’We recommend people not leave assets in view, to always make sure that they closed the vehicle, to park in a specially arranged place or at an illuminated place and to make sure that the signaling system is on. At the same time, citizens who notice suspect people nearby cars are asked to call the police. Also, during the campaign, raid will be organized to prevent offences,’’ Bors noted.
The campaign of informing and prevention of thefts from vehicles will be held during two months.
According to law-enforcers, 70 of the thefts from cars are discovered. The suspects found guilty of committing this offence run the risk of paying a fine or up to three years of imprisonment.
