Chisinau, 29 September /MOLDPRES/ - Government’s Secretary General Dumitru Udrea has discussed with the United Nations Regional Director for Europe and Central Asia Gwi-Yeop Son the cabinet’s priorities for the immediate period, in the context of the European agenda, as well as the crises which hit Moldova, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.

Dumitru Udrea thanked for the unconditional support provided to Moldova, especially on the period of the Covid-19 pandemic and the crisis of refugees from Ukraine. ‘’In the last years, Moldova has responded to more challenges at the world and regional levels and the assistance and experience of the Office of Resident Coordinator of the UN Agencies have contributed a lot to their overcoming, especially this year,’’ the government’s secretary general stressed.

For her part, Gwi-Yeop Son appreciated the excellent cooperation between the United Nations and the government and congratulated Moldova for the getting of the status of country candidate for EU. She noted that ‘’the UN will back Moldova on its way of accession to the European Union, especially that the Sustainable Development Goals 2030 represent the foundation of the European Moldova 2030 National Development Strategy and thus the synergy between them and the European agenda is achieved.’’

The two officials discussed the carrying out of the government’s anti-crisis agenda, as well as strategic priorities in those four fields of impact of the Moldovan Government-UN cooperation: correct and inclusive justice; participatory democracy and social cohesion; sustainable economy, ecological development; strong communities and resistance to disasters and climate changes.

The agenda of the discussions also included the cooperation for preparing the next ministerial conference of the Moldova Support Platform, due in Paris in late 2022.
