Maternity allowance to be provided automatically in Moldova as of 1 October

Chisinau, 29 September /MOLDPRES/ - The maternity allowance will be provided automatically starting from 1 October 2022, without the need to submit an application to territorial social insurances houses. The cabinet today approved the amendment of the regulation on the conditions for establishing, way of calculation and payment of the allowance for temporary incapacity for work, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.  

Under the new provisions, the maternity allowance will be established by the territorial social insurances houses based on the medical certificate for maternity, submitted by the providers of medical services through the portal of the medical leave certificates. The data from the certificate will be considered during 15 calendar days, and if the information unveiled is incorrect or incomplete, this term will be extended up to 45 days.  

The maternity allowance is paid in quantum of 100 per cent of the monthly average insured income to all insured women, wives who are maintained by insured husbands and the unemployed people who are in the records of the medical and sanitary institutions from Moldova.

The new procedure of providing the maternity allowance will not be enforced retroactively and as for the maternity leave provided till 1 October 2022, it will be demanded according to the present regulations, i.e. by submitting applications to territorial social insurances houses.
