ANSP launched mushroom poison prevention week

Chisinau, Oct. 3 /MOLDPRES/- The National Agency for Public Health organizes on October 3-9 the mushroom poison prevention week. The event is being held for the first time, Avoid buying mushrooms from unauthorized places.

This week, the specialists aim to inform the population regarding the danger of mushroom consumption and the effects on health, the measures to prevent mushroom poisoning.

In the country, during the past year, 143 cases of mushroom poisoning were registered. All these cases were associated with the independent collection of mushrooms by citizens or their purchase from unauthorized markets. Most cases were registered in Orhei, Edineț, Florești, Călărași and Ungheni districts.

This year, specialists recorded 11 cases of mushroom poisoning affecting 14 people, including two children.

Specialists claim that there is no surefire test that the mushroom picker or eater can use to avoid confusion or poisoning. They recommend to consume mushrooms bought only from authorized places.
