Moldovan PM participates in festivity dedicated to Education Employees' Day

Chisinau, 4 October /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilita today participated in a festivity dedicated to the professional day of the education sector employees, during which the Gala of Laureates, Teacher of the Year, took place, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported. Attending the event were also Education and Research Minister Anatolie Topala, the head of the parliament’s commission for culture, education, research, youth, sport and mass media, Liliana Nicolaescu-Onofrei, MPs, representatives of the local public authorities.      

In her speech, the prime minister appreciated the contribution of the teachers to the formation of the young generation, through the cultivation of the values of nation, development of the critical thinking and abilities needed in the professional training. Also, Natalia Gavrilita referred to the measures undertaken by the government for the sustainable improvement of the national education system. Among them, there is the allocation, in 2022, of about 172 million lei meant for increasing the single allowance for teaching materials. Thus, about 43,000 teachers have received an allowance of 4,000 lei, twice as much against the previous period. Also, the education system employees this year benefited from salary increases on average by 11 per cent.     

„All of us want a school where the teacher should have the best conditions of work; where each pupil can develop his/her potential and can become a personality. We want a modern, innovative education system, which is to meet the needs of all children. The authorities’ actions are aimed at enhancing the prestige of the pedagogic education; we prioritized the education for foreign financing, including on behalf of EU. The steps which I enumerated represent the beginning of a comprehensive process, which has a single finality: the education must become again the key for success in life,’’ the PM noted.
