Chisinau, 6 October /MOLDPRES/ - The emergency state has been extended by another 60 days in Moldova. The parliament approved a decision to this effect today.

Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilita came with a request on the prolongation of the emergency state to parliament today. She said that the need to extend the state of emergency was prompted by the persistent threats regarding the national security, as well as Moldova’s supply with energy resources for the cold period of the year.

Under the decision, during the emergency state, the Commission for Emergency Situations (CSE) issues compulsory and executory instructions for the leaders of the central and local public administration authorities, economic agents, public institutions, as well as for Moldova’s citizens and other people who are on the territory of the country.

The decision on the prolongation of the state of emergency was taken at a proposal by the government, which has at the basis the Report of Moldova’s Commission for Emergency Situations.

The parliament will inform, in a three-day-term, the United Nations Secretary General and the Secretary General of the Council of Europe about the present decision and the reasons for its adoption. The current decision enters into force today.

The emergency state was established in Moldova on 24 February 2022, with the unleashing of the war in Ukraine. Starting from 25 April, the state of emergency was extended all over the country by 60 days and as of 8 August – by another 60 days.
