Chisinau, 6 October /MOLDPRES/ - The works of construction of the water main Chisinau-Straseni-Calarasi and of developing the infrastructure for the management of drinking water will be declared public utility of national interest. The parliament approved a draft law to this end today.
The water main has a length of about 53 km and will ensure the supply with drinking water of all residents from the Straseni and Calarasi districts. Decision-makers identified 90 grounds owned by the local public administration, 15 grounds – by the central public administration and 103 ones – owned by private entities. These grounds are to be expropriated within a special procedure applicable to the public utility works and the compensations will be paid from the state budget.
The project, Improving the Water Infrastructure in Central Moldova, is financed by the government of Germany through the state bank Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau (KfW) and the National Fund for Regional and Local Development of Moldova. The project’s overall value is 25 million euros.
