Two border policemen detained after trying to smuggle 700 thousand cigarettes out of country

Chisinau, Oct. 7 /MOLDPRES/- Three people, including two employees of the Border Police were detained in Briceni, after trying to smuggle 700,000 cigarettes out of the country.

According to PCCOCS, law enforcement officers initially detained one person and later that day detained two other persons who facilitated the smuggling scheme. The two turned out to be employees of the Border Police from the northern region, one of them having a management position in the institution.

The detained suspects are between 23 and 40 years old. According to the data in the file, they are part of a criminal group.

The 69 boxes of contraband cigarettes found in two means of transport were confiscated. PCCOCS prosecutors are to present the accusations of the three detainees, in order to request the application of preventive detention for 30 days.
