National Apple Festival held in Soroca

Chisinau, Oct. 9 /MOLDPRES/- Dozens of agricultural producers and representatives of the business environment gathered today in Soroca to participate in this year's edition of the National Apple Festival. The event was organized by the Soroca District Council, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, jointly with economic agents from the country and the relevant central authorities.

The main events on the festival's agenda will be held near the Soroca Citadel, and aim to popularize and develop the agricultural sector, promote local apple producers, as well as the business specialized in modern apple processing technologies and the production of orchard planting material.

Exhibitions for sale, supported by local producers, a fair of traditional dishes, a parade of representative costumes for the festival, an exhibition of planting material were organized for the visitors of the festival.

At the same time, the festival program foresees several culinary contests, for the best apple exhibition, craft fairs, exhibitions supported by ethnic communities, a children's town with games, animations and a theatrical show, Iarmaroaca, etc. Also, for those interested, there will be workshops with trips to the orchards. Apple producers and processors, artistic collectives, guests and partners from Romania, etc. are expected at the event.

The Soroca district, nicknamed the apple capital, was considered the region with the largest area of ​​apple orchards in the Republic of Moldova, but the crisis in the field makes more and more orchardists clear the trees.
