Business people from Azerbaijan invited to explore opportunities Moldova provides to investors

Chisinau, 11 October /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilita has encouraged business people from Azerbaijan to invest in Moldova. She noted that the Moldovan authorities would further provide a friendly investment climate and the conditions necessary for the development of success business and creation of jobs. The Moldovan PM made the urge in Baku today at a meeting of business people. The event was organized in order to identify new opportunities of cooperation between the business communities of Moldova and Azerbaijan, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
The PM stressed that the present regional context was full of challenges and created real problems to the business environment from the two countries; for this reason, it is important to consolidate the joint efforts, especially as regards the turning to good account of the business opportunities. The prime minister said that Moldova remained a good destination for investments and attracted projects from various countries, such as Germany, the United Kingdom and the USA, a priority being also the increase in the Azeri investments in the national economy. In this context, Natalia Gavrilita invited Azeri investors to analyze the advantageous conditions provided by the Free Economic Zones, Industrial and Information Technology Parks from Moldova.
„Not only my country regards Azerbaijan as a strong and reliable partner. This is a vision shared also by Brussels, along with the key capitals of EU. The government I lead sees the European integration as a compass, which helps us fulfill the expectations of our citizens and of the business companies which are doing business in Moldova. In this respect, we are really committed to carry out the reforms which speed up already the economic growth,’’ Natalia Gavrilita said.
The prime minister stressed that the state had the role to facilitate the economic activity and the government now allocates significant resources for simplifying the process of taxation, reducing the bureaucracy, accelerating the digital transformation, which will make shorter the interaction between citizens, companies and the state’s institutions. ‘’We edify digital bridges between the public sector and private one and maintain close contacts with the representatives of the business community. As early as in the beginning of the mandate, I clearly said that my transformation agenda was bold – we must edify an open, innovating economy, which can serve also as a platform of export for such investors as you,’’ Natalia Gavrilita said.
At the same time, according to the prime minister, the authorities remain focused on the attenuation of the economic consequences of the war in Ukraine. Despite the interruption of the supply chains, increasing inflation and uncertainties dealing with the energy security, Moldova has a solid macro-economic basis. In 2021, the Gross Domestic Product grew by 13.9 per cent, more than in any country of Europe and the labour market shows positive tendencies. Also, the country provides a string of opportunities in such sectors as IT, green energy, electronic trade and automotive industry – which the biggest exporting segment.
„When you opt for Moldova, just think not only about a small market of less than 3 million people, but rather about a point of access to the EU markets, where the products coming from my country are welcome and appreciated. Given that we actively work to become a full-fledged member of the European family, we are open for business for all those willing to explore the opportunities which my country has to provide. The government is fully committed to encourage foreign investors and I hope that all plans which we discuss on these days will turn into new business partnerships,’’ the prime minister stressed.
The discussions continued with a round of questions and answers, during which the government’s representatives came up with specifications as to the investment projects from Moldova. At the same time, wine-makers from Moldova and Azerbaijan exchanged opinions on the experience gained in the vine-growing and wine-making sectors.
