Moldovan president meets representatives of Foundations for an Open Society

Chisinau, 12 October /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu today met the managers of the Foundations for an Open Society, in charge of Europe and Central Asia, as well as with the leadership of their local representation, Soros Moldova Foundation, the presidential press service has reported.
The meeting was occasioned by the 30th anniversary of the organization’s work in Moldova.
The discussion was focused on the situation of the democracy in Moldova, on the social and economic challenges the country is facing, as well as on Moldova’s European aspirations.
The head of state expressed gratitude for the contribution brought by the Foundations for an Open Society during three decades to the promotion of the democratic values in the country, consolidation of public institutions, civil society and independent media, as well as for the programmes on the development and modernization of education and science.
President Maia Sandu said she relied, in continuation, on the support of the processes of reform of justice and anticorruption, as well as in the carrying out of the education’s reform.
