Moldovan publicist marks 90th birthday anniversary

Chisinau, 13 October /MOLDPRES/ - Writer, publicist, MP in the first parliament of Moldova, Merited Man, holder of the Order of the Republic, laureate of the State Prize Tudor Topa turned 90 years today.
Tudor Topa was born in the Chitcanii Vechi village, central Telenesti district, in 1932. He studied at the Moldovan State University (1952-1957), Higher Party School from Moscow, Journalism Faculty (1969-1971). Topa worked at various publications, holding different positions. He was the head of the Leadership Committee of the Journalists’ Union from Moldova (1989-1993).
In 1967, Tudor Topa made his editorial debut with a journalism volume, followed by another 90 books of documentary prose about war, travel notes, monographs and short stories about ancestors’ precincts, outstanding personalities of Moldova.
He was an active participant in the national revival movement and of return to the national values. At that time, he ruled to publish in the Moldova Socialistă newspaper, which he led, the alternative draft of the Law on the state language, proposed by the Academy of Sciences of Moldova.
In 1990-1994, Tudor Topa was lawmaker in the first parliament of Moldova.
