Moldovan Prime Minister talked to UNFPA representatives

Chisinau, Oct. 13 /MOLDPRES/- Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilița talked today with Assistant Secretary- General of the United Nations (UN), Deputy Executive Director of the UN Population Fund (UNFPA) Ib Petersen and Resident Representative of UNFPA Moldova Nigina Abaszada. The sides assessed the current situation at the regional and local level and talked about the necessary solutions to face the energy, humanitarian and security crises, the government's communication and protocol department has reported.

Also, the results of the implementation of UNFPA projects in the Republic of Moldova were evaluated and new intervention segments were established through the country programs of the development partner. At the same time, the officials talked about the involvement of UNFPA in the project of the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection regarding the mechanism for determining the energy vulnerability of the population.

The official appreciated the effort made by Nigina Abaszada and thanked the Fund for the support offered to our country in the most difficult times, by modernizing medical institutions, equipping hospitals with ambulances and inventory for the cold season, facilitating access of the population to innovative medicines, providing medical services to refugee women from Ukraine, etc.

UNFPA representatives welcomed the government's efforts to deal with all the problems generated by the conflict in the region, confirming that UNFPA will continue to support refugees and citizens of the Republic of Moldova through the projects it carries out in our country. In this context, it was mentioned that beyond the immediate needs of refugees, greater attention must be paid to the most affected categories of citizens of our country. They stressed the importance of the involvement of United Nations agencies, programs and funds, such as UNFPA in cooperation with the relevant national authorities, to act in support of adolescents, young people, women with children and pregnant women, as well as people with disabilities, who need logistical, medical, psychosocial assistance.
