Chisinau, Oct. 13 /MOLDPRES/- A painting and graphics exhibition on Chisinau was inaugurated today at the Parliament. The works were carried out by the student architects.
The paintings illustrate several historical buildings in the city, which have become symbols for the Republic of Moldova.
The 22 works are made by a group of third-year students from the Faculty of Urban Planning and Architecture of the Technical University of Moldova (UTM), who were guided by professor Mariana Hadji-Bandalac. "The cultural architectural heritage of the country is an ideal source of inspiration for UTM architectural students, forming clear visions of our nation's history and culture. The visual language of these creations conveys to us the importance of preserving the architectural style and maintaining a continuity of Chisinau", said Mariana Hadji-Bandalac.
For his part, Speaker Igor Grosu said that the event is an additional opportunity to promote, motivate and encourage talented young people. "I was impressed by the works done in simple pencil, where every detail counts. These extraordinary students helped me to rediscover some buildings in the capital, period buildings, which present old architecture, our treasure, and, in the rush for development, unfortunately we risk losing some masterpieces", said the head of the Legislature.
The exhibition will be open until October 19.
