Chisinau, Oct. 13 /MOLDPRES/- The weekly meeting of the Joint Control Commission was held today in Bender, the Reintegration Policy Office has reported.
During the discussions on the report of the Joint Military Command on the situation in the Security Zone for the period 05-11 October 2022, it was found that this act was not signed by the military commanders, in particular, due to some formulations promoted by Transnistrian exponents, unacceptable in the acts of the mission to maintain peace. The Transnistrian component tries to resume the vicious practice of camouflaging the real state of affairs at the illegal posts, more concretely of not reflecting the appearance of the modules for housing the personnel.
The delegation of the Republic of Moldova submitted new proposals, through which it reaffirmed its position regarding the elimination of illegal posts, expressing concern that they are an obvious danger to people's lives.
In the context, a tragic consequence of the posts illegally installed in the Security Zone was elucidated, being the road accident on October 8, 2022 when, at night, a car crashed violently into the concrete blocks of such an illegally placed post on the road at the entrance to the town of Rîbnița. As a result, the driver died on the spot, and the passenger arrived at the hospital with serious injuries.
In its appeal, the Delegation of the Republic of Moldova called on all participants in the work of the Joint Control Commission to give a fair assessment to the unilateral actions that caused the tragedy and to force the Transnistrian structures to withdraw their posts from the area of responsibility of the Joint Peacekeeping Forces.
In April 2022, the Transnistrian structures, under an invented pretext of "terrorist threat", placed on the routes and in the localities located in the Security Zone about 50 new posts completed with armed personnel.
These abuses were committed by Tiraspol's open disregard of the decisions of the Joint Control Commission, in particular a 2007 protocol, which prohibits the installation of additional posts in the Security Zone to existing ones.
The presence of the posts was documented by the military observers of the Joint Military Command, and by the monitoring teams of the OSCE Mission in Moldova.
The delegation of the Republic of Moldova from the beginning highlighted the illegal nature of the posts and constantly demanded their withdrawal.
Tiraspol, however, refuses to comply with the acts of the peacekeeping mission and resists reaching a consensus in approving a solution to end the violations.
