The European Union is with Moldova – this is the firm message of support which the Moldovan official received on behalf of the EU diplomacy head.
Minister Nicu Popescu and the European Commission Vice President discussed the dramatic impact of the Russian military aggression against Ukraine, the consequences for Moldova – especially the vulnerabilities in the energy sector – and the agenda of reforms on the country’s road of European modernization.
„I appreciated the unflinching support of EU for Moldova’s territorial integrity and sovereignty, including in the context of the unacceptable violation of our air space by Russian missiles, used for attacks against targets of the civilian infrastructure from the neighbour country.
I appreciated the firm solidarity with Moldova, marked through comprehensive political, commercial and economic, financial and technical support on behalf of EU and its member states. We also discussed ways of improving the cooperation in the fields of security and defence, in order to cope with the threats our country is exposed to,’’ Minister Nicu Popescu said.
The Moldovan diplomacy head reiterated to the high European official the authorities’ determination for the agenda of reforms, especially the ones of the justice sector and eradication of corruption, as well as the efficient carrying out of the plan on the implementation of the nine recommendations suggested by the European Commission.
