Moldovan head of state appoints 14 judges to office

Chisinau, 17 October /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu has issued a decree, thereby appointing 14 judges to office. The decree will enter into force with its publication in the Official Journal (Monitorul Oficial).
According to the presidential press service, the concerned judges represent part of a list of 39 names put forward to the head of state by the Superior Council of Magistracy (CSM). To establish the degree the candidates meet the rigours of professionalism and integrity, the Presidency asked for information from more relevant public institutions. Based on the assessment got, President Maia Sandu has earlier turned down 13 of the candidates proposed by CSM. As for the rest of 12 candidates, the conclusion is that some of them do not meet the criteria needed to act as judges and as for the others there are still questions which must be cleared up at CSM.
