Parliament speaker says status of country candidate for EU makes Moldova more determined in reforms' agenda

Chisinau, 17 October /MOLDPRES/ - Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu today discussed with President of Georgia Salome Zourabichvili, on an official visit to Moldova. The officials found out that Moldova and Georgia were facing the same challenges, such as the energy, cyber and information security, the parliament’s communication and public relations department has reported.
The sides discussed Russia’s military aggression in Ukraine, noting that Moldova and Georgia had condemned the war since its first day and for almost eight months had been with the Ukrainian people through providing refugees with shelter and food. ‘’The latest events in the region show us that we must be prepared for a new flow of seasonal refugees, as Russia attacks the critical infrastructure and thousands of Ukrainians remain without electric energy and heating,’’ the parliament speaker stressed.
At the meeting, Igor Grosu said that Moldova wanted a more intense cooperation with Georgia in the commercial and economic sector and development of more logistic chains. Another subject tackled represented the European aspirations of the two countries. ‘’The Moldovans have cleared proved at the last elections that our future is the European Union and the status of country candidate makes us be more determined in our agenda of reforms,’’ the parliament speaker added.
