Moldovan-Czech collaboration approached in Chisinau

Chisinau, Oct. 18 /MOLDPRES/- The Czech presidency of the European Union gives a signal to Moldova that it is expected in the EU. We need each other, and the Czech Republic will offer the Republic of Moldova the experience it has in the integration process. Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic Markéta Pekarová Adamová made the statement at a today's joint conference with Speaker Igor Grosu.

Igor Grosu said that the bilateral meeting focused on issues related to security in the region, the energy crisis and the refugee crisis. "The double posture that the Czech Republic has at the moment on the EU presidency and bilateral relations were discussed today. We also talked about the needs we have and the actions for the next period. The candidate country status obtained by the Republic of Moldova honors us and implies an enormous responsibility. We treat the nine conditions received as part of the internal reform agenda. We are already in the process of implementing them, with an emphasis on justice reform. We also discussed energy security. The fact that Gazprom reduced gas volumes makes our situation even more complicated, but we are sure that together with our partners we will find solutions to this problem as well. We also discussed bilateral cooperation and we observe a good dynamic of trade exchanges. We requested support on the experience that the Czech Republic has in attracting cohesion funds", Grosu said.

Markéta Pekarová Adamová said that the Czech presidency of the EU gives a strong signal to Moldova that it is expected in the EU. "Not only Moldova needs the EU, but we need each other. We discussed in Chisinau about energy security, as well as that in the region. The Czech Republic will share its experience on the way to the EU. We also have excellent relations at parliamentary level because we have a friendship group. We will also visit several projects financed by the Czech Republic, one of which is focused on refugees from Ukraine", the Czech official said.

Markéta Pekarová Adamová is on an official visit to the Republic of Moldova on 17-19 October. The visit's agenda includes meetings with President Maia Sandu and Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilița.
