Runoff of new local polls to be held in commune of north Moldova district on 30 October

Chisinau, 18 October /MOLDPRES/ - The Central Electoral Commission (CEC) today approved the organization of the runoff of the new local polls for the office of mayor in the Braniste commune, northern Rascani district.
According to the CEC’s decision, the runoff election will be held on 30 October 2022.
Local elections took place in three settlements of Moldova on 16 October. Thus, the mayors were elected in the first round of the ballot in the settlements Salcuta (Causeni district) and Ialpujeni (Cimislia district) and no candidate got more than a half of the validly expressed votes in the Braniste commune.
CEC Secretary Alexandr Berlinschii stressed that, ‘’if no candidate meets this condition, a runoff election with two candidates who picked up the largest number of votes is organized in a two-week term.’’
CEC’s decision enters into force on the date of its adoption and is published in the Official Journal (Monitorul Oficial).
