Every third MP has degree in law

Chisinau, Oct. 19 /MOLDPRES/- A number of 32 MPs from the Parliament of the 11th legislature have studied law or have worked in the legal field. The data were made public on the Jurists' Day.

According to the parliament's communication and public relations department, most parliamentarians graduated from law faculty in Moldova. MP Ana Calinici studied law in Bucharest, Fiodor Gagauz - in Kyiv and Efimia Bandalac - in Moscow.

The Action and Solidarity Party faction has 16 legal representatives: Ion Babici, Efimia Bandalac, Viorel Barda, Ana Calinici, Artemie Cătănoi, Igor Chiriac, Mariana Cușnir, Vasile Grădinaru, Gheorghe Ichim, Boris Popa, Ersilia Qatrawi, Ana Racu, Roman Roșca, Veronica Roșca, Olesea Stamate and Petru Frunze.

There are 12 jurists in the Bloc of Communists and Socialists: Adrian Albu, Vlad Batrîncea, Vasile Bolea, Corneliu Furculita, Fiodor Gagauz, Alexandr Suhodolski, Irina Lozovan, Radu Mudreac, Alexandr Nesterovschi, Veaceslav Nigai, Grigore Novac and Adrian Lebedinschi. At the same time, MP Adrian Lebedinschi is a PhD in law.

In the Shor Political Party Faction, four MPs have studies in the legal field: Vadim Fotescu, Petru Jardan, Denis Ulanov and Ilan Shor.

64 civil servants with law degrees work in the Parliament Secretariat: 43 in the structural subdivisions and 21 in the secretariats of the standing commissions. Also, three employees are PhD in law.

Every year on 19 October, the Jurists' Day is celebrated in Moldova. It was set up by presidential decree in 2000, as a sign of gratitude for the contribution of lawyers to building the rule of law.
