Bypass road from central Moldova district village opened for movement

Chisinau, 19 October /MOLDPRES/ - The Bahmut commune from the central Calarasi district will benefit from a bypass road, designed and made according to the European norms, which will considerably ease the flow of transport which crosses it. The settlement’s bypass road, with a length of about 6 km, was opened for movement today, in the presence of Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilita and Deputy PM, Infrastructure and Regional Development Minister Andrei Spinu, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.      

The road segment, constructed with the European Union’s support, is part of the R1 national road Chisinau-Ungheni-border with Romania. It has two lanes, small bridges, an underground passage and two intersections. The construction works started in 2015 and the project’s overall value is of about 10 million euros – provided as grant by EU through the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).  

„For us, it is important to build quality roads in each settlement; therefore, after a period of the process’ procrastination, the project was taken over by the Infrastructure and Regional Development Ministry. Thus, the construction project was de-blocked and the works were finished during one year,’’ Natalia Gavrilita said.   

The roadway was constructed following the project’s implementation, with more than 12,000 tons of asphalt used, and the drainage system, which allows the evacuation of the rain waters. Also, to organize the road traffic and enhance the level of safety for the participants in the traffic, over 100 road signs were set and over 3,000 square metres of road marking was applied.  

The bypass road will be inaugurated after the works are finished, which will last two weeks.
