Rescuers conduct information campaign on use of heating devices

Chisinau, Nov. 1 /MOLDPRES/- Rescuers are carrying out a campaign to inform people about the use of electric heating devices and gas-powered boilers.

Press officer of the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (IGSU) Liliana Pușcașu said that electric heating devices must be standardized, authorized and certified. "It is necessary that they be purchased from a specialized store. In the event of a malfunction, it is important to contact a specialist to fix the problem and not resort to self-repair. Appliances must not be left unattended. At the same time, they need to be disconnected at night, as a short circuit can have serious consequences", said Liliana Pușcașu.

The IGSU press officer also said that before use, gas-fired boilers must be checked and certified by a specialist.

According to the IGSU, since the beginning of this year, 18 people have suffered from carbon monoxide poisoning caused by the use of heating sources. As a result of complications, six of them died.

Citizens' information campaign on the use of heating sources takes place in October - March.
