Exhibition of old, rare books opened at National Library of Moldova

Chisinau, 1 November /MOLDPRES/ - An exhibition of documents titled, The memory in the written tradition of the 18th-19 centuries, was opened at the National Library (BNRM) today.    

According to the organizers, the exhibition brings to public’s attention the evidence of the time inserted by various authors, who for political, diplomatic reasons or simply driven by curiosity, travelled to European countries and Romanian Principalities in the 18th century, noting their impressions on the people, customs and traditions in the concerned regions. The pictures which we identify in travellers’ evidence highlight a string of aspects which deal with the fact how the former place and residents looked like.   

The exhibition comprises two sections: Romanian travellers in the world and Travellers and travels, within which copies of old and rare books in the Romanian language and foreign languages are displayed. The exhibition will be opened till 30 December.
