People sick with diabetes can benefit from new compensated medicine in Moldova

Chisinau, 1 November /MOLDPRES/ - The people sick with diabetes and heart failure can benefit from a new compensated medicine starting from today.

According to the Health Ministry, the compensated medicine has the international common denomination (DCI) of dapagliflozinum.

The cost of the medicine with DCI dapagliflozinum is compensated at the level of 50 per cent from the mandatory health insurances accounts (AOAM) and can be raised at any drug store contracted by the National Health Insurances Company (CNAM), upon the presentation of a recipe prescribed by physician.

Dapagliflozinum belongs to a new class of preparations which contain specific inhibitory substances used in the treatment of diabetes. At the same time, the medicine is recommended by the specialty commission in the endocrinology sector of the Health Ministry and is advised for the first-line treatment of people who concomitantly have type-II diabetes and heart failure.

According to estimations by the National Health Insurances Company (CNAM), about 10,000 patients with chronic diseases will benefit from dapagliflozinum, for the compensation of which 40 million lei (2 million euros) is to be annually allocated.
