Former head of Moldova's Railway state enterprise extradited from Belgium

Chisinau, 4 November /MOLDPRES/ - The former head of Moldova’s Railway state enterprise (CFM) on 3 November evening was extradited to the Moldovan authorities, based on a warrant arrest issued in July 2021.
According to the Prosecutor General’s Office, following the extradition, he was escorted by policemen to the headquarters of the Prosecutor’s Office for Combating Organized Crime and Special Causes (PCCOCS).
The preventive arrest warrant for 30 days was thrice appealed by the suspect’s lawyers at the Chisinau Court of Appeal. The investigations on the file continue, in order to speed up the process of sending to court.
The former CFM head is charged with abuse of power on the period 2015-2029, which caused the enterprise damage worth 250 million lei (about 12.5 million euros).
