Moldova to have access European car and driving licence information system

Chisinau, 4 November /MOLDPRES/ - Moldova will have access to the European car and driving licence information system (EUCARIS), according to a Treaty published in the Official Journal (Monitorul Oficial) today.

EUCARIS (short for European Car and Driving License Information System) is an information exchange system that provides an infrastructure and software to countries to share, among others, their car- and driving licence-registration information, helping fight car theft and registration-fraud and 34 states presently have access to this system. Thus, Moldova will benefit from support in the prevention, investigation and following of illegal acts in the field of driver’s licences, vehicles’ registration and other frauds.

According to the authorities, Moldova’s accession to the Treaty will have a positive impact through the improvement of the road traffic situation in the country, reducing the discrepancies concerning the degree of road traffic security, cutting the number of traffic accidents’ victims, diminution of the number of accidents with serious consequences, as well turning drivers more responsible and raising the awareness about the risks related to the road norms.
