Shor Party of Moldova might be outlawed

Chisinau, 9 November /MOLDPRES/ - The cabinet of ministers today approved a decision, under which the Justice Ministry suggests the verification of the constitutionality of the Shor Party, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.     

According to Justice Minister Sergiu Litvinenco, the notification submitted presents enough arguments showing the fact that, through all activities carried out so far, the Shor Party had acted in contradiction with the principles of the rule of law state and endangered the sovereignty and independence of the Republic of Moldova.

„At all ballots in which it participated, the Shor Party was sanctioned for the infringement of the electoral legislation, including for illegal financing. Moreover, the illegal financing actions gain greater and greater proportions as compared to what was in the past; the party is just at present prosecuted within criminal files on the illicit financing coming from an organized crime ring, as well as for the wide support from which this party has benefited and benefits on behalf of the intelligence services of Russia,’’ Justice Minister Sergiu Litvinenco said.

According to the notification, the actions committed by the Shor Party in the last six months are incompatible with the fundamental principles of the democracy. At the same time, besides the journalistic investigations, which prove the attempts of the party to undermine Moldova’s European development vector, with the involvement of other states’ intelligence services, the document stipulates the fact that the formation’s leader has been recently included in the list of sanctions of the United States.
